Our so called leader has encouraged another country to kill or make refugees of courageous allies while others in the Middle East, Africa, India and China destroy civilizations, rape, torture and kill and justify their brutality in the name of an entity which, if it truly existed, would not allow such horrors.
Meanwhile, in our own civilized world, people are mowed down by gunfire, prison guards, police, and lack of health care, while asylum seekers and immigrants who have formed the unseen backbone of our country by performing the work which isn’t good enough or doesn’t pay well enough for the rest of us, are turned away from our border.
The 400 richest families in the nation pay taxes at a lower rate than the poorest while the middle class dwindles.
The lack of leadership at the top of our government over the past three years is a quagmire of nepotism, corruption, fear mongering and destruction of values. Greed overrides ethics at every turn and the quest for more power and greater profits is already eroding the earth we depend on for our own and our children’s’ futures.
We can turn off the news, blame the internet, pursue our normal lives, and pretend we didn’t know.
Or can we?
